Unnao Accident: 18 Dead, 19 Injured after Double-Decker Bus Collided with Milk Tanker

In a tragic incident early Wednesday, a double-decker bus collided with a milk tanker on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district, resulting in at least 18 fatalities and 19 injuries.

The bus, en route from Motihari in Bihar to Delhi, crashed into the tanker near Garha village, according to Unnao District Magistrate Gaurang Rathi. The impact was so severe that the bus was destroyed, and passengers were thrown from the vehicle.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the Unnao accident place to rescue victims and transport the injured to nearby hospitals. Scenes from the accident site revealed bodies scattered on the ground, mangled metal, shattered glass, and personal belongings in disarray.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, with initial findings suggesting the bus was speeding, District Magistrate Rathi noted.

Unnao Accident: Ministers expressed condolences

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences on social media, stating, “My deepest condolences are with the grieving families. District officials have been instructed to expedite relief efforts at the site.”

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak visited the crash site to assess the situation and oversee relief operations. He mentioned that most of the injured were from Bihar and that coordination with the Bihar government was underway.

“The injured are being transferred to higher-level medical facilities. Hospitals near Unnao are on alert, and the trauma center at KGMU in Lucknow is prepared to receive patients,” Pathak said.

Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh expressed his sympathy for the victims’ families and assured that the district administration and transport department officials have been instructed to ensure proper medical treatment for all those injured.
