The Bengaluru city police have filed a case against the manager of One8 Commune, a restaurant associated with Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, for operating beyond permitted hours. Authorities reported that the pub on MG Road in central Bengaluru continued serving patrons until 1:30 am, exceeding the allowed time limit of 1:00 am.

Additionally, the police have taken action against several other establishments for similar violations of the city’s closing time regulations.

According to reports, a police sub-inspector (PSI) on patrol duty, following a tip-off, visited the restaurant at around 1:20 am on July 6 and found it still open. The PSI from the Cubbon Park police station initially filed a non-cognisable report (NCR), which was later upgraded to a First Information Report (FIR) with the court’s approval.

“We have booked around 3-4 pubs for operating late until 1:30 am last night. Complaints were received about loud music being played. Pubs are only allowed to remain open until 1 am,” stated the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central.

Last year, the Virat Kohli-backed restaurant chain was embroiled in controversy when a man from Tamil Nadu shared a video on social media, recounting how he was denied entry to the Mumbai branch of One8 Commune for wearing a “veshti.” He expressed feeling “disappointed” and “hurt” by the incident.

The restaurant chain also made headlines when the Delhi High Court prohibited it from playing songs for which Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) held the copyright.
