Mihir Shah, the son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah from Palghar district, is accused of driving a BMW that struck and killed Kaveri Nakhwa (45) early Sunday morning. Nakhwa, a resident of Worli Koliwada, was riding a two-wheeler with her husband, Pradeep, on Dr. Annie Besant Road when the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 am.
Witnesses report that the vehicle dragged Nakhwa for more than two kilometers. She was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Following the collision, Mihir Shah allegedly fled towards the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, abandoning his vehicle and driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, near Kala Nagar in Bandra. Rajesh Shah and Bidawat were subsequently arrested on Sunday for allegedly facilitating Mihir Shah’s escape.
An official noted that due to the possibility of Mihir Shah attempting to leave the country, the Mumbai Police issued an LOC against him on Sunday evening. Six police teams have been assembled to locate the suspect.

Authorities suspect that Mihir Shah was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, citing his presence at a Juhu bar a few hours prior, where he allegedly racked up a bill of ₹18,000. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area.
Commenting on the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde stated, “The law is equal for all, and the government treats every case impartially. There will be no special treatment for this case. All actions will be conducted according to the law.” He assured that the police would not protect anyone and described the incident as “unfortunate.”
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray, representing the Worli constituency, expressed his views on social media platform X, stating, “I will not delve into the political affiliations of Mr. Shah, the hit-and-run suspect, but I expect the police to act swiftly to apprehend the accused and ensure justice is served. Hopefully, there will be no political interference.”
The accused individuals face charges under several sections, including 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The arrested parties are anticipated to appear before a local court later today.
