Rapper Young Scooter Dies at 39 While Fleeing Police

The Atlanta Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Young Scooter’s death.

Atlanta-based rapper Young Scooter, born Kenneth Edward Bailey, has tragically passed away on his 39th birthday, March 28, 2025. The incident occurred in southeast Atlanta when police responded to reports of gunfire and a woman being forcibly taken into a residence.

Upon arrival, officers observed two men fleeing the scene. Bailey attempted to escape by jumping over two fences, during which he sustained a severe leg injury. Despite being transported to Grady Marcus Trauma Center, he succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities have clarified that initial reports suggesting Bailey was shot by police are inaccurate; his fatal injury was self-inflicted during the escape attempt.

Young Scooter was a prominent figure in the Atlanta hip-hop scene, known for tracks like “Colombia” and collaborations with artists such as Future, Gucci Mane, and Young Thug. His death has elicited an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow artists alike.
