Born on October 12, 1935, in Miami, Florida, Moore began his musical journey singing in church before rising to fame in the 1960s alongside his partner, Dave Prater. Together, Sam & Dave became renowned for their dynamic performances and timeless hits, including “Soul Man,” “Hold On, I’m Comin’,” and “I Thank You.”
Their music not only topped charts but also played a significant role in bridging racial divides during a tumultuous era in American history.
