Last month, Swift announced her re-recording of “1989” and hinted at the inclusion of previously unreleased songs, a tradition she had upheld in her previous three re-recording releases as a special treat for her dedicated fanbase.
In a unique twist, Swift had previously unveiled vault tracks for “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” and “Red (Taylor’s Version)” through a video containing scrambled letters.

On Tuesday, Google joined the excitement by announcing that its search function would generate 89 puzzles for fans to solve, ultimately unveiling the names of the new songs.
Google stated, “You’ll be helping Swifties around the world get out of the woods (or unlock the vault) as everyone collectively solves 33 million puzzles.” This marked the strategy to unveil the vault track titles.
Some international fans had observed a small blue vault icon appearing when searching for “Taylor Swift” on Saturday, building anticipation for the significance of the vault.

The puzzle journey commenced with the vault revealing a scrambled version of Swift’s upcoming album name, with more puzzles emerging as participants inputted answers into the search bar.
However, many fans expressed frustration as they encountered glitches and made no discernible progress.
One user on X (formerly known as Twitter) remarked, “I feel like Taylor constantly forgets how big she is. 33 million is a lot when you take into account the vault not working. Google has to process who is playing the game and who is genuinely trying to search for sunglasses, which I think is what screws this all up.”
Another humorously added, “we’re definitely not getting 33 million before the album comes out with this stupid vault not working.”
Google acknowledged the issues in a late Tuesday post on X, saying, “Swifties, the vault is jammed! But don’t worry, there are no blank spaces inside. We’re in our fix-it era and will be out of the woods soon.”

Swift herself added to the excitement by posting a video on Instagram of a blue vault opening, captioned with “You can tell me when the search is over… if the high was worth the pain.”
According to Google Trends data, searches for “Taylor Swift” surged after the post and remained elevated for several hours. Her highest Google search interest occurred at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, two hours after her post, before gradually declining.
The release of “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” is scheduled for October 27, exactly nine years after the original album’s debut.
