India and South Africa will face each other in the second match of three-match T20 series on sunday. The hosts won the first match comfortably by 8 wickets. India’s skipper Rohit Sharma won a crucial toss and elected to field first, predicting that the pitch would do something in the initial overs but would ease out as the game progressed.
Skipper’s prediction proved right as pacers Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar sent half of South African team to pavilion in powerplay. Rilee Rossouw, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs were dismissed at duck.
Despite the rollicking start, India couldn’t bowl out their opponents. In the last overs, Indian bowlers conceded unnecessary runs which helped South Africa to cross the 100-run mark. Target of 108 runs never going to be a tough for the brilliant lineup of team India but Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s early wickets tensed the team. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav batted very well and completed their half centuries in the match. Rahul made unbeaten 51* runs off 56 balls and Suryakumar scored 50* runs off 33 balls.
South Africa, on the other hand, couldn’t learn in-swings and out-swings of Indian pacers which discomforted them. Only Aiden Markram could play well on the tough pitch and gave some relief to his team. Wayne Parnell and Keshav Maharaj were also well with the bat. Despite devastating start of the team, they helped South Africa to score 106 runs in 20 overs.
Pacer of the visitors Kagiso Rabada bowled well and discomforted the Indian batters but they couldn’t take more than two wickets. As the target was small, hosts didn’t take risk in playing big shots which could lead to a loss of wickets. So, the batters of South Africa need to perform well in the second match to give some tough competition to the hosts.
