World Senior Citizen’s Day 2024: World Senior Citizen’s Day is celebrated on August 21 every year. In the United States of America, it is also celebrated as National Senior Citizen’s Day. This day highlights the importance of older people and their contribution to our society.
World Senior Citizen’s day is intended to increase awareness about the issues or problems faced by the elderly such as health deterioration and elderly abuse. Senior citizens have more knowledge and experience than younger people, so they should be treated with due respect and integrity.

On August 19, 1988 the former President of the United States of America Ronald Reagan initiated this day. He had signed the promulgation 5847 to observe the senior citizen’s day on August 21 every year.
He said that we should show gratitude and sincere greetings towards our senior citizens for all that, they have achieved in their lives and for all that, they continue to do. We can show our gratitude and appreciation better by making sure our communities are good places.

Senior Citizens are those who have a lot of knowledge and experience. They have better understood the world than the younger people. So, we can get some knowledge by spending a quality time with them.
At some places, senior citizens struggle a lot to ensure their place in their own homes as their children consider them a burden and don’t want to live with them. So, they send their elderly parents to places like old age homes which is a serious issue in our society.
Everyone will get older one day so we should think twice before abusing any senior citizen. They may not be able to do much physical work but in every other aspect they may do better than the younger generation. Only younger people can save the senior citizens by taking care of their well-being.
