The theme of International Youth Day 2024 is “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.”
“Digitalization is transforming our world, offering unprecedented opportunities to accelerate sustainable development. Digital technologies such as mobile devices, services, and artificial intelligence are instrumental in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” the United Nations official website reads.
“As the 2030 deadline for the SDGs approaches, the role of young people in digital innovation is essential for addressing global issues,” it added.

International Youth Day 2024:- History
The young people recommended this day in 1991, who were gathered in Vienna, Austria, for the first session of the World Youth Forum of the United Nations System. The purpose behind recommending this day was to raise funds for the United Nations Youth Fund.
The United Nations General assembly formally declared the International Youth Day in 1999. It was celebrated for the first time on August 12, 2000.
International Youth Day 2024:- Significance
This day makes the youth aware about their rights and their ability to change the world. Proper guidance and opportunities can provide them employment as per their skills and they can also become job generators instead of job seekers.
According to the United Nations, half of the people on our planet are 30 or younger and is expected to reach 57% by the end of 2030. 1.2 billion young people aged 15 to 24 years, accounting for 16 percent of the global population. Globally, only 2.6% of parliamentarians are under 30 years old and less than 1% of these young MPs are women.
