TMZ updated its report to include information from a source stating that two staff members at the villa found Efron in the swimming pool and pulled him out of the water.
Efron has been traveling across Europe recently. His most recent Instagram post, shared earlier this week, celebrated Simone Biles’ achievements at the Paris Olympics.
His latest film, “A Family Affair,” co-starring Nicole Kidman and Joey King, was released on Netflix in June. Efron has been busy promoting the romcom and spent much of last year promoting “The Iron Claw.”
While promoting “The Greatest Beer Run Ever” in 2022, Efron revealed to ET at the Toronto International Film Festival that he “almost died” after shattering his jaw in 2013, an injury that required stitches. Following the accident, there were rumors that he had undergone facial surgery.

“My mom told me. I don’t really read the internet, so, I don’t really give a f**k,” Efron said about the surgery rumors.
“It was funny,” he added. “It sucks. I almost died, but we’re good.”
