Virat Kohli created history by becoming the first player ever to score 3000 runs across T20 and ODI World Cups.
In a historic match against Bangladesh during the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight stage in Antigua, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli made headlines by achieving a significant milestone. Despite being scrutinized for his lackluster performances in the current tournament, Kohli delivered a crucial 37-run inning from 28 balls before being dismissed by Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
This performance propelled Kohli to become the first player ever to score 3000 runs across T20 and ODI World Cups. He entered the match needing just 35 runs to reach this landmark and surpassed it with his 37-run contribution.

Kohli’s 37 runs against Bangladesh marked his best performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup, following previous scores of 1, 4, 0, and 24. His struggles had sparked debates among cricket experts, with some advocating for Yashasvi Jaiswal to replace him at the top of the order.
When questioned about Virat Kohli’s form, India’s batting coach Vikram Rathour expressed a desire for more consistency from the former captain. “I’m not happy. I would love it if he gets going and scores more runs. But yeah, it is good when you are challenged at times. You know, the guys who are not getting too much batting in India sometimes, they are the ones who put up scores today and our middle-order came to play. So, it was good to see,” Rathour commented during the pre-match press conference.
