The Academy Award-winning actor was hospitalized in April 2023 while filming the Netflix movie “Back in Action” in Atlanta. In a TikTok video posted this week, Foxx recounted to a group that he experienced a severe headache on April 11, 2023. He mentioned asking a friend for an Advil before he “was gone for 20 days.”
“I don’t remember anything,” he said in the video, which was recorded on June 29 in Phoenix.
Foxx further explained that his sister and daughter took him to a doctor, who administered a cortisone shot. Another doctor indicated that there was a problem, pointing to his head. “I won’t say it on camera,” Foxx added.
Known for his privacy, Foxx withdrew from public view following what his daughter Corinne Foxx described as a “medical complication” on social media.
In July 2023, the “Ray” star explained his decision to withhold details, saying he didn’t want the public to see him in a vulnerable state. “I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was gonna make it through,” he shared in an Instagram video, describing the experience as going “to hell and back.”
