Recently Farah Khan celebrated Menaka Irani’s birthday

Farah Khan shared two photos on her mother Menaka Irani’s birthday on July 12, and wrote a heartfelt caption praising her resilience. She acknowledged often taking her mother for granted and expressed her desire to see her mother strong again so they could resume their playful arguments. Farah wrote, “We all take our mothers for granted… especially me!”

Reflecting on the family’s challenging period, Farah added, “This last month has been a revelation on how much I love my mom Menka. She’s been the strongest, bravest person I’ve ever seen, with her sense of humor intact even after multiple surgeries. Happy birthday mom! Today’s a good day to come back home ♥️ can’t wait for you to get strong enough to start fighting with me again.. I love you.”

Sajid Khan also shared a photo with his mother and Farah on her birthday, captioning it, “Happy Birthday mummy…”

Menaka Irani was the sister of actor Daisy Irani and screenwriter Honey Irani, and the aunt of filmmakers Zoya and Farhan Akhtar. She raised Farah and Sajid on her own after their father’s death.

In a previous interview, Farah recounted how her mother had threatened to throw her out of the house if she married at 22.

Speaking to the YouTube channel of Nova IVF Fertility earlier this year, Farah shared that she was always career-focused and not considering marriage or motherhood in her 20s. However, the idea of marriage did cross her mind at 22, but her family advised against it.

Farah Khan explained, “Marriage was not on my mind at all. At 22, I thought I would get married, but my family got together and said they would kick me out of the house if I got married that young without achieving anything in life. They were the opposite of typical parents… My mother said she’d throw me out of the house. She wanted me to make something of my life and be financially independent before getting married.”
