Smriti Biswas succumbed to age-related ailments at the age of 100. Throughout her career, she shared the screen with iconic actors like Dev Anand, Kishore Kumar, and Balraj Sahni.
Veteran actor Smriti Biswas, renowned for her roles in Hindi, Marathi, and Bengali cinema, passed away at her home in Nashik, Maharashtra, sources confirmed on Thursday.
At the age of 100, Smriti succumbed to age-related ailments late Wednesday night, the sources reported. Known for her remarkable contributions to the film industry, she had been residing in a modest one-room-kitchen rented apartment in the Nashik Road area.

On Thursday, filmmaker Hansal Mehta took to Instagram to honor her memory, sharing a collection of recent and vintage photos of the late actor. “Go away in peace and to a happier place, dear Smritiji. Thank you for blessing our lives. RIP Smriti Biswas,” he wrote.

Smriti Biswas began her illustrious career as a child artist, working with eminent directors such as Guru Dutt, V. Shantaram, Mrinal Sen, Bimal Roy, B.R. Chopra, and Raj Kapoor. Throughout her career, she shared the screen with iconic actors like Dev Anand, Kishore Kumar, and Balraj Sahni.
Her debut was in the Bengali film “Sandhya” in 1930, and her final appearance in Hindi cinema was in “Model Girl” in 1960. She retired from acting following her marriage to filmmaker S.D. Narang.
Following the death of her husband, Smriti relocated to Nashik. She celebrated her 100th birthday on February 17, 2024. She is survived by her two sons, Rajeev and Satyajeet, according to sources.
