World Blood Donor Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Scientist and Nobel Prize winner Karl Landsteiner. He discovered the ABO blood group system for which he won the Nobel Prize in 1930.
In 2004, World Health Organisation (WHO) declared June 14 as the World Blood Donor Day. Since then, it has been celebrated every year all over the world.
