This selfie marked their second, the first having been shared by Meloni at the COP28 Summit in 2023 with the hashtag Melodi. Their friendly rapport was evident as they greeted each other with namaste gestures and shared a light-hearted conversation.
This year’s G7 Summit marked Modi’s fifth consecutive participation, with India having been present at the last ten gatherings. Italy, hosting as the G7 chair, brought together the seven major economies of Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the UK, and the US, along with the European Union.
On Friday, Modi and Meloni held a bilateral meeting to discuss defense and security cooperation. “Both sides discussed enhancing bilateral defense and security cooperation and anticipated further industrial collaboration. They also welcomed the upcoming visit of the Italian aircraft carrier ITS Cavour and the training ship ITS Vespucci to India later this year,” stated the Ministry of External Affairs.
