Renowned Kannada film personality Bungle Shama Rao Dwarakanath, affectionately known as Dwarakish, passed away due to a cardiac arrest at the age of 81, according to family sources. With a career spanning over several decades, he contributed to the industry as an actor, producer, and director, leaving a significant mark.

About Dwarakish

He appeared in approximately 100 films and helmed the production and direction of around 50 movies. Born on August 19, 1942, in Hunsur, Mysuru district, he gained immense popularity for his comedic roles, becoming a household name in Karnataka.

His contributions extended beyond acting, as he played a pivotal role in introducing the legendary Hindi playback singer Kishore Kumar to the Kannada film industry through the iconic song ‘Aadu Aata Aadu.’

With a background in mechanical engineering, Dwarakish ventured into the film industry in 1966 by co-producing “Mamatheya Bandhana” under the banner of Thunga Pictures.

His notable success as a producer came with the film “Mayor Muthanna,” starring Kannada cinema icon Dr. Rajkumar and Bharathi in lead roles.
