Director Aishwarya Rajinikanth and actor-director Dhanush have made headlines with their recent decision to file for divorce at the Chennai family court, opting for mutual consent under Section 13 B. This move follows their announcement in January 2022, which stunned many of their admirers given their 18-year-long marriage.

Despite living separately for the past couple of years, they have maintained a semblance of normalcy by attending their sons’ school events together.

Dhanush took to social media on January 17, 2022, to share the news of their separation, emphasizing the years of shared experiences and growth as a couple and parents. Aishwarya echoed his sentiments, underscoring the need for privacy during this challenging period.

Their union began in 2004 with a lavish wedding ceremony when they were just 21 and 23 years old, respectively. Over the years, they became proud parents to two sons, Yatra and Linga. Since their decision to part ways, both Dhanush and Aishwarya have been channeling their energies into their individual careers.

Aishwarya marked her return to the director’s chair with ‘Lal Salaam’, a project that saw her father, Rajinikanth, in an extended cameo. Dhanush, on the other hand, has been immersed in various acting commitments and his directorial pursuits. His upcoming venture, ‘Raayan’, marks his second directorial endeavor and is eagerly anticipated by fans.
