The Deadpool and Wolverine trailer reveals the Time Variance Authority from “Loki” Season 2 kidnapping Deadpool during his birthday celebration, introducing him into the MCU.
After nearly six years of hiatus, Fox’s “X-Men” movies have come to an end with Deadpool making a comeback in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after Disney’s acquisition.
The 2024 Super Bowl featured the first trailer for “Deadpool and Wolverine,” where Ryan Reynolds’ Merc With a Mouth teams up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, last seen in 2017’s “Logan.”
The trailer reveals the Time Variance Authority from “Loki” Season 2 kidnapping Deadpool during his birthday celebration, introducing him into the MCU. Deadpool, self-proclaimed as “Marvel Jesus,” vows to bring his R-rated humor and fourth-wall-breaking antics to Disney’s pristine brand. Wolverine’s face remains hidden, shown only from behind, and a showdown between Deadpool and Wolverine is teased, with only Wolverine’s shadow visible.
Production delays due to the SAG-AFTRA strike caused a four-month hiatus for “Deadpool 3,” shifting its release from May 3 to July 26.
The first “Deadpool” focused on the anti-hero seeking revenge against Ajax, while the second installment involved Deadpool assembling the X-Force to combat the time-traveling soldier Cable. Both films achieved box office success, with “Deadpool 2” breaking records in 2018.
