In Florida, a violent confrontation between two groups turned tragic during Halloween festivities in Tampa, resulting in a fatal shooting on a street. The incident, which occurred just before 3 a.m. on the 1600 block of East 7th Avenue in Ybor City, left two individuals dead and 18 others hospitalized.
Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw confirmed that at least two shooters were involved, with one suspect in custody and another still being sought.

The altercation took place in an area known for its bars and clubs, with a significant late-night crowd in attendance. It remains unclear whether the individuals involved in the fight had been inside any of the nearby bars prior to the shooting.
Tampa police spokesperson Jonee Lewis mentioned that “hundreds” of people were present on the streets as nightspots closed, and while one person was detained, no immediate charges were filed. Investigations were ongoing.
The names of the victims have not been released, but one grieving father, Emmitt Wilson, identified his 14-year-old son, Elijah, as one of those killed. The incident was captured on video, showing people in Halloween costumes on the street when shots rang out, causing panic and injuries. Police officers were seen providing aid to wounded individuals in the aftermath.

Tampa Mayor Jane Castor, a former police chief, pointed out that the issue lies not in a lack of policing but in the easy accessibility of firearms. She emphasized the need for gun control to prevent such senseless losses of life.
As the scene of the shooting remained quiet on Sunday morning, with police blocking off the area, the aftermath left behind empty cups, beer bottles, and a witch costume in the street.
Two young women, who decided not to attend the festivities due to concerns about crowds, shared their thoughts on the situation. They mentioned the reputation of the area for occasional incidents and unruly behavior, particularly when nightspots close.
