Naatu Naatu song from SS Rajamouli’s movie has created a history by winning the prestigious Oscar award in the best original song category. Earlier this year, the song also won the Golden Globes award.
Naatu Naatu song from SS Rajamouli’s movie RRR has won the Oscar award in the best original song category. Music composer MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose received the award.
Naatu Naatu Wins Oscar 2023
This song has created history to become the first song from an Indian movie to win this prestigious award. Naatu Naatu song defeated all the nominees in the best original song category which were – ‘Applause’ from Tell It Like A Woman, ‘Hold My Hand’ from Top Gun: Maverick, ‘Lift Me Up’ from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and ‘This is Life’ from Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Ram Charan and Jr NTR had performed energetically on this song in the RRR movie. Kala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj sung this song. They gave a stellar performance at the ceremony and dancers including Lauren Gottlieb performed on this song. The hookstep was liked a lot by the public. Their performance received a standing ovation.
After winning the award, official twitter account of the RRR movie wrote, “We’re blessed that #RRRMovie is the first feature film to bring INDIA’s first ever #Oscar in the Best Song Category with #NaatuNaatu! No words can describe this surreal moment. Dedicating this to all our amazing fans across the world. THANK YOU!! JAI HIND!”
Earlier this year, Naatu Naatu also won the Golden Globes award in the best original song category and become the first song to receive that honour. This song has created a history and made India and Indian cinema proud.
It is to be noted that ‘Jai Ho’ song, composed by AR Rahman, penned by Gulzar, from the 2008 british film Slumdog Millionaire, became the first Hindi song to win an Academy award in the best original score and original song category.
