Ivana Trump, the first wife of Donald Trump and mother of his three eldest children, dies at the age of 73.
Former US President Donald Trump announced this news on his social media platform Truth Social. He said that Ivana Trump passed away at her home in New York city. “She was a wonderful, beautiful and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life,” Donald Trump wrote.
Ivana’s son Eric Trump took to instagram to pay her tribute. “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ivana Trump,” he wrote.
“Our mother was an incredible woman — a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend”
“Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country. She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination. She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren,” Eric Trump added.
Ivana grew up in Gottwaldov, Czechoslovakia, south of Prague. She moved to Canada in the 1970s and worked as a ski instructor before beginning her modelling career.
Ivana Trump’s marriage with Donald Trump
In 1976, Ivana Trump met Donald Trump while on a work trip to New York. The couple married in 1977 and their first son Donald Trump Jr. was born in the same year, followed by daughter Ivanka in 1981 and son Eric in 1984.
Ivana worked as the vice president of interior design for the Trump Organization. She also served as the Chief Executive Officer of some Trump hotel properties.
At that time, Ivana and Donald were the high-profile couples but their relationship started worsened when Donald Trump’s affair with Marla Maples came into light. Ivana and Donald divorced in 1992.
Then, Donald Trump married Marla Maples in 1993. They parted ways in 1999. Currently, Melania Trump is the wife of Donald Trump to whom he married in 2005.
Ivana Trump went on to enjoy her successful business career, developing jewellery, clothing and cosmetic products. She also penned a number of books.
