MS Dhoni stepped down as CSK Captain ahead of IPL 2022. Ravindra Jadeja will lead the team in this season. He will only be the third player to lead CSK after MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has handed over CSK Captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja ahead of IPL 2022. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will lead the team in the season opener match against Kolkata Knight Riders on saturday, March 26.
This news has been announced from the official twitter account of Chennai Super Kings.
“MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond,” CSK said in an official statement.
MS Dhoni, who had been leading CSK since 2008, decided to step down as CSK Captain on thursday (March 24). Under his captaincy, CSK won four IPL titles, last one in the previous IPL.
CSK won IPL 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021. One of the most memorable and historic IPL titles was won by CSK in 2018. Dhoni-led CSK won that title after facing a ban of two years. Dhoni is the second most successful IPL captain after Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma.
Ravindra Jadeja will only be the third player to lead CSK after MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina. He has been an integral part of CSK since 2012. He is the no.1 all-rounder in test cricket. Besides bat and bowl, Jadeja has the ability to change the game with fielding.
