Remembered for her unforgettable performances in ‘Anand’ and ‘Kora Kagaz,’ Seema Deo has left us due to age-related ailments.
Seema Deo, a revered actress known for her performances in iconic films like Anand and Kora Kagaz, passed away at the age of 81 in Mumbai. Her filmmaker son, Abhinay Deo, confirmed that she succumbed to age-related ailments on Thursday morning.
With a career spanning over 80 Hindi and Marathi movies, Seema Deo breathed her last at her residence in Bandra. She had battled Alzheimer’s disease for more than three years.
Seema Deo dies due to Alzheimer’s and Dementia
“She passed away at 8.30-9 am at her residence in Bandra due to old age. She had been withdrawn completely, and eventually it is just old age. Alzheimer’s is such a thing that you stop figuring out how to function. She had dementia leading up to Alzheimer’s and she was suffering from it for over three years,” Abhinay Deo told to PTI.
“There’s no specific reason for her death. Due to Alzheimer’s and dementia, the person forgets how to walk. The muscle memory starts coming down and one by one, the organs start shutting down,” he added.

In addition to her presence in numerous Hindi films, Seema Deo also left an indelible mark on Marathi cinema as a distinguished actress. Over the course of her career, she graced the screens in more than 80 films. Notable among her Marathi contributions are Jagachya Pathivar, Vardakshina, and several others. Her final appearance came in the 2021 Marathi movie, Jivan Sandhya.
Ramesh Deo, her husband and a seasoned figure in both Hindi and Marathi cinema, passed away in 2022 at the age of 93.
Leaving behind a legacy, she is survived by her two sons: actor Ajinkya Deo and director Abhinay Deo. Ajinkya Deo has made his mark with roles in movies like Sansaar, Indrajeet, and Aan: Men at Work, while Abhinay Deo is renowned for directing films like Delhi Belly and Force.
