WWE has confirmed the passing of Terry Funk, a highly accomplished and influential figure in the realm of professional wrestling. He was 79 years old at the time of his demise, leaving behind a remarkable legacy.
WWE wrestling legend Terry Funk has passed away at 79, as confirmed by his manager Timothy Beal on Wednesday. Although the exact cause of death has not been disclosed, Beal mentioned that Funk had been in poor health for a while and was residing in a nursing home.
The WWE also issued a statement to confirm Funk’s passing. “WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk has passed away at the age of 79. WWE extends its condolences to Funk’s family, friends and fans,” WWE tweeted.
Wrestling was deeply ingrained in Funk’s family. Raised in Amarillo, Texas, he hailed from a wrestling lineage. His father, Dory Funk, Sr., was a professional wrestler, and Funk initially embarked on his wrestling journey as a tag-team competitor alongside his brother, Dory Funk, Jr., as stated in his WWE biography.

His fans and friends including Retired WWE wrestler Mick Foley, Ric Flair and Triple H expressed condolences over his demise.
Mick Foley said, “Terry Funk is gone. I just talked to Terry’s daughter, Brandee, who gave me the awful news. He was my mentor, my idol, one of the closest friends. He was the greatest wrestler I ever saw.”
“If you get the chance, look up a Terry Funk match or a Terry Funk promo, and give thanks that this incredible man gave so much, for so long, to so many. There will never be another like him. May God bless Terry, his friends, family and all who loved him. RIP my dear friend – it was an honor to know you. #RIPTerryFunk,” Foley added.
Ric Flair said that no one will ever replace Funk in the world of professional wrestling!
“In My Entire Life, I’ve Never Met A Guy Who Worked Harder. Terry Funk Was A Great Wrestler, Entertainer, Unbelievably Fearless, And A Great Friend! Rest In Peace My Friend Terry Funk Knowing That No One Will Ever Replace You In The World Of Professional Wrestling!,” Ric Flair tweeted.
“Every night in cities all over the world, Terry Funk left it all in the ring for our business and for the fans. An icon of our industry. My thoughts are with Terry’s family, friends and fans,” Triple H tweeted.
Inducted alongside his brother in 2009, he became a part of the WWE Hall of Fame. Concluding his wrestling career in 2017, he participated in his last match.
Funk‘s legacy extended beyond the ring, as he achieved recognition for his notable performances in Hollywood movies. His appearances in films like “Roadhouse” alongside Patrick Swayze, as well as “Paradise Alley” and “Over the Top,” highlighted his versatility.
