Guru Tegh Bahadur Jayanti 2022: The ninth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Tegh Bahadur was born in 1621 in Amritsar. This year, there will be 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. It will be celebrated on thursday, April 21.

Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth guru of Sikhs. His birth anniversary is celebrated as Parkash Parv or Guru Tegh Bahadur Jayanti. He is commemorated as the warrior guru who fought relentlessly for religious freedom.

Guru Tegh Bahadur was the youngest son of Guru Hargobind, the sixth guru of Sikhs. He was the father of Guru Gobind Singh ji. He was a poet and scholar whose teachings or bani are present in the Sri Guru Granth Sahib (the holy book of sikhs).

Guru Tegh Bahadur Jayanti 2022:- History

Guru Tegh Bahadur was born in 1621 in Amritsar. He is remembered as the warrior and saviour guru. During the time of the Mughal rule, there were persecutions of the Hindus. People were forced to convert to Islam under the reign of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Guru Tegh Bahadur was beheaded in Delhi in 1675 as he refused to convert to Islam.

Guru Tegh Bahadur’s execution and cremation places later became the Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Gurudwara Rakab Ganj Sahib. His death anniversary is celebrated as Guru Tegh Bahadur’s martyrdom day on November 24.

Guru Tegh Bahadur Jayanti is celebrated with full of enthusiasm and fervour by the Sikhs. People wake up early in the morning and visit Gurudwara to offer prayers.

Religious processions, Shabad Kirtans are held in Gurudwaras. Langar (food) is also distributed among the devotees. On the occasion of 400th Parkash Parv of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Government of India will release the special coins and stamps to commemorate the achievements of Guru Tegh Bahadur.
