Swami Vivekananda was born on January 12, 1863 in a bengali family. At that time, his name was Narendranath Datta. His father name was Vishwanath Datta, who was the attorney in Calcutta high court and his mother name was Bhubaneshwari Devi, who was a housewife. Swami Vivekananda was interested in spirituality and religion even from the childhood.
During his youth, he met an Indian mystic Ramakrishna Paramhansa. Swami Vivekananda was very impressed from his teachings. Later, he became the disciple of Ramakrishna. In the year 1893, upon the request of ‘Maharaja Ajit Singh’, he changed his name to ‘Vivekananda.’
