An FIR has been lodged against Alt News Co-founder Mohammed Zubair for promoting religious enmity through a social media post.
Mohammed Zubair, co-founder of Alt News, has faced fresh legal challenges. On October 8, 2024, an FIR was lodged against him in Ghaziabad by Udita Tyagi, the General Secretary of the Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati Foundation.

The complaint accuses Zubair of promoting religious enmity through a social media post. He allegedly shared an old video of the controversial priest Yati Narsinghanand, which the complainant claims incited violence against the priest. This followed protests outside the Dasna Devi temple, headed by Narsinghanand, where clashes broke out between protesters and temple supporters. Ten people were arrested during these incidents.
Zubair has been booked under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to promoting enmity between religious groups, fabricating false evidence, and criminal intimidation.
Zubair responded to the accusations on social media, criticizing the legal actions against him and others involved in raising awareness about Narsinghanand’s hate speech.
This legal development is part of an ongoing controversy, as Narsinghanand himself faces multiple FIRs for making derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad, which have sparked widespread protests from Muslim groups. Security around the temple has been increased to prevent further violence.
