A 29-year-old woman fell into a deep gorge at Borane Ghat in Maharashtra while attempting to take a selfie on Saturday.
The woman was rescued with the assistance of the Home Guard and local residents. The incident occurred during heavy rain in the region, which has led to overflowing waterfalls, including Thoseghar.

On Saturday, a group from Pune visited the Thoseghar waterfall. While trying to take a selfie at Borane Ghat, 29-year-old Nasreen Amir Qureshi from Warje, Pune, slipped and fell into a 60-foot-deep gorge.
Nasreen was successfully rescued from the gorge and immediately taken to a private hospital in Satara for treatment. Her condition remains critical.
This incident underscores the ongoing risks posed by heavy rainfall in the Satara district. District Collector Jitendra Dudi has ordered the closure of tourist spots and waterfalls from August 2 to 4 to prevent such accidents. Despite these measures, the allure of these natural sites continues to attract visitors, some of whom are endangering their lives.
A video of the incident, showing Nasreen falling while attempting to take a selfie, has gone viral on social media, sparking discussions about the dangers of such activities.
