Karnataka Police arrested Janata Dal (Secular) MLC Suraj Revanna on Sunday, following allegations of sexual misconduct.

Suraj, brother of former MP Prajwal Revanna, was accused by a JD(S) worker who filed a complaint at Holenarasipura police station in Hassan district, stating that the incident took place at Suraj’s farmhouse on June 16.

The complaint was lodged under sections 377, 342, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the FIR, Suraj noticed the complainant’s work during the Lok Sabha elections, sought his contact number, and invited him to his farmhouse in Gannikada village. Once there, Suraj allegedly locked the complainant in a room and sexually assaulted him, promising political advancement in return. When the complainant resisted, Suraj allegedly threatened him with severe consequences.

The complainant texted Suraj’s aide, Shivu, on June 17, expressing that Suraj had ruined his life. Shivu reportedly threatened him to keep quiet and offered ₹2 crore and a job as hush money. Fearing for his safety, the complainant fled to Bengaluru on June 19 and filed a written complaint with the Director General. Consequently, the Holenarasipura Rural police station registered his complaint that evening.

Suraj Revanna, the son of JD(S) MLA HD Revanna, has denied the accusations, claiming the complainant demanded ₹5 crore and filed a false complaint when the demand was not met.
