A video featuring Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf has gone viral on social media, showing the cricketer nearly getting into a physical altercation with a few fans in the USA. This incident surfaced on X, previously known as Twitter, just days after Pakistan’s heartbreaking group-stage exit from the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they were defeated by co-hosts the USA and their arch-rivals, India.

In the 54-second clip, Haris Rauf is seen walking with his wife when a group of fans approached them, asking for a selfie. Though the exact exchange is unclear, Haris appeared to lose his temper and aggressively moved towards the fans. His wife tried to intervene, but Haris removed his slippers and charged at them, almost engaging in a fight before one of the fans managed to restrain him.
One of the fans, visibly upset, is heard saying, “Ek picture maangi hai bas (All I wanted was one picture with you).”
In the midst of the scuffle, Haris Rauf was restrained by one of the fans who could be heard saying: “Indian hoga yeh (He must be an Indian),” to which the fan responded, “I’m from Pakistan.”
Pakistan’s Performance in the 2024 T20 World Cup
Pakistan’s campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup was disappointing. They faced a shocking defeat in their opening Group A match against the USA, losing via Super Over in New York. Despite showing potential for a comeback in their match against India, Pakistan failed to chase a modest target of 119, even after dominating most of the game.
Although the team, led by Babar Azam, managed to secure victories against Canada and Ireland in their remaining group matches, a washout game between the USA and Ireland confirmed their early exit. This marked the third time Pakistan has been eliminated in the group stages of the T20 World Cup, a sharp contrast to their runner-up finish in the 2022 edition.
