Soon after moving in, Zach begins to suffer from intense, violent nightmares and frightening hallucinations. These are not new phenomena for him; as a child, he experienced severe psychosis and had his disturbing memories erased through a series of electroconvulsive shock treatments (ECT) administered by his psychiatrist, Dr. Richard Sommers (Cary Elwes).
As the bizarre and increasingly dangerous events escalate, leading to strange occurrences and the slaughter of innocent people, Zach is forced to question his own sanity. His forgotten, repressed childhood traumas begin to resurface, and the terror surrounding them grows to deadly proportions.
The plot shifts from focusing on psychological trauma and psychosis to the possibility of a supernatural, demonic possession. Zach is confronted with the horrific realization that the threats he is facing are external and far more sinister than anything he could have imagined, putting his and Shawn’s safety in grave danger.
