Subsequent medical evaluations confirmed that Watkins suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her right knee. This injury will require surgical intervention followed by a rehabilitation period, effectively ending her participation in the remainder of the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to this injury, Watkins had been instrumental in USC’s successful season, averaging 24.6 points, 7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. Her absence is a significant setback for the Trojans as they advance to the Sweet 16 to face Kansas State.

The basketball community has expressed widespread support and well-wishes for Watkins’ recovery. Teammates, coaches, and fans have conveyed their concern and encouragement, highlighting her impact on the sport and the tournament.

As of now, there is no specific timeline for Watkins’ return to play. Updates on her recovery will depend on the outcomes of her surgery and rehabilitation progress. We will continue to monitor and provide information as it becomes available.
