Adrien Brody’s Oscar Triumph for ‘The Brutalist’

At the 97th Academy Awards held on March 2, 2025, Adrien Brody won the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Hungarian architect László Toth in “The Brutalist.” This marks Brody’s second Oscar win, coming 22 years after his first for “The Pianist.”

During his acceptance speech, Brody reflected on his immigrant heritage and shared the moment with his partner, Georgina Chapman, and her two children. He also addressed the orchestra when they attempted to play him off, humorously stating, “It’s not my first time dealing with this,” and continued his speech.

“The Brutalist” also secured awards for Best Cinematography and Best Original Score.

The evening’s top honor, Best Picture, went to “Anora,” which won five awards, including Best Director for Sean Baker and Best Actress for Mikey Madison.
