Taiwanese actress and singer Barbie Hsu, renowned for her role in the 2001 television drama “Meteor Garden,” has passed away at the age of 48 due to pneumonia resulting from influenza complications.

Her sister, Dee Hsu, confirmed that Barbie fell ill during a family vacation in Japan and succumbed to the illness on February 2, 2025.

Barbie Hsu began her entertainment career as part of the pop duo S.O.S with her sister before achieving widespread fame with “Meteor Garden,” which remains a significant hit across various Asian countries. She also starred in other productions such as “Mars,” “The Ghost Inside,” and “Connected.”

Throughout her life, Hsu faced several health challenges, including epilepsy and heart disease, which had led to previous hospitalizations.

She is survived by her husband, South Korean musician Koo Jun-yup (DJ Koo), and two children from her previous marriage to Chinese entrepreneur Wang Xiaofei.
