The couple married in 2019, but their relationship deteriorated over financial disputes and allegations of abuse. Nikita reportedly demanded large sums of money to support her family’s business endeavors, which led to escalating conflicts.
She had also filed multiple legal complaints against Atul, including accusations of dowry harassment and assault. The situation escalated when Atul accused her of demanding substantial alimony amounts—initially ₹1 crore, later rising to ₹3 crore.
After his death, Bengaluru police launched an investigation, leading to the arrests of Nikita and her family from different locations in Gurugram and Prayagraj. They were subsequently transferred to Bengaluru and placed in judicial custody.
This case has sparked significant public and media attention, especially concerning issues of mental health, domestic disputes, and allegations of misuse of legal provisions.
