On December 28, 2024, a car carrying popular Marathi actress Urmila Kothare was involved in a tragic accident in the Kandivali area of Mumbai. While returning home from a film shoot, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle near the Poinsar Metro station.

The car struck two workers engaged in metro construction. Tragically, one worker succumbed to injuries on the spot, while the other was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Urmila and her driver also sustained minor injuries but were largely protected by the car’s airbags. The driver has been charged with rash and negligent driving, and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
Urmila Kothare, known for her performances in acclaimed Marathi films like Duniyadari, Shubhmangal Saavdhan, and Ti Saddhya Kay Karte, recently made her television comeback with the show Tujech Mi Geet Gaat Ahe after a 12-year break.
