Tamil Producer Dilli Babu Dies at 50, Leaving Film Industry in Shock

Tamil film producer Dilli Babu passed away in the early hours of September 9 in Chennai at the age of 50, leaving the Tamil film industry in shock.

According to family sources, Dilli Babu passed away around 12:30 am after being admitted to a private hospital for an undisclosed illness. His sudden demise has left a void in the industry, and further details regarding his health are awaited.

Dilli Babu’s body will be brought to his home in Perungalathur, Chennai, at 10:30 am today for people to pay their respects. His funeral is scheduled for 4:30 pm on the same day.

Producer SR Prabhu and Director ARK Saravan paid tribute to Dilli Babu

Producer SR Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures expressed his grief on social media, stating, “Deeply saddened by the loss of tor #Dillibabu of @AxessFilm Factory. He supported so many young and emerging talents. This is a huge loss for the film industry. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Rest in Peace!!”

Director ARK Saravan, known for his work on Maragadha Nanayam, also shared an emotional tribute. He wrote, “Dilli Babu sir (heartbreak emoji). He gave me my first break through the film Maragadha Nanayam. Tamil cinema has lost a great human being, a wonderful producer, and a true achiever. It’s hard for my heart to accept this. #RIP Dillibabu Sir.”

Dilli Babu, who founded the production house Axess Film Factory, was known for backing successful films like Ratsasan and Maragadha Naanayam.

He made his debut as a producer in 2015 with Urumeen and went on to produce other popular movies such as Iravukku Aayiram Kangal, Oh My Kadavule, Bachelor, Miral, and Kalvan. He had several upcoming Tamil projects in the pipeline, further underscoring his impact on the industry.
