On September 5, Google celebrated the para powerlifting event with an animated Doodle that featured a charming blue bird. According to the Olympics’ official website, para powerlifting challenges athletes by testing their upper body strength.

In honor of the event, the Google Doodle showcases a large bird lifting a baguette like a barbell, while a small brown bird perches on the baguette, enjoying a piece of bread. The background features a variety of breads on display, adding a whimsical touch to the artwork.
The official Google Doodle page enthusiastically stated, “The wait is over, the weights are on. Get ready for today’s Para Powerlifting event at Aréna Porte de La Chappelle!”
Para powerlifting, also known as para lifting, made its first appearance at the Tokyo 1964 Games. It became an official Paralympic sport in 1984, and women’s powerlifting was later introduced at the Sydney Paralympic Games in 2000.
Athletes with various disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, orthopedic or neurological disabilities, paraplegia, tetraplegia, and progressive neurological disorders, are eligible to compete. Men’s weight categories range from 49 kg to over 107 kg, while women’s categories range from 41 kg to over 86 kg.
