Michael J. Fox thanked Coldplay and his team on instagram for making the Glastonbury performance possible.
Michael J. Fox made a surprise appearance with Coldplay on Saturday night at the Glastonbury music festival. The iconic “Back to the Future” star, who had previously performed with the band in 2016, joined them on stage in a wheelchair for two encore songs.

During their 2021 hit “Humankind,” frontman Chris Martin introduced Fox, saying, “Here is another legendary Michael. One who just totally rocks. With his Chuck Berry riff and the way he punched Biff: ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Michael J. Fox.” Martin then launched into a freestyle riff.
Fox, 63, has been battling Parkinson’s Disease since 1991. He played the guitar from his wheelchair while Martin knelt beside him for “Fix You.” During the song’s interlude, Martin sang “Go, Johnny, Go, Go, Go,” a nod to Fox’s character Marty McFly’s performance of Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode” in “Back to the Future.”
Martin later expressed gratitude to Fox, saying, “Especially thank you to the main reason why we’re in a band, is because of watching ‘Back to the Future.’ So thank you to our hero forever, and one of the most amazing people on Earth, Mr. Michael J. Fox.”
Fox also joined Coldplay at MetLife Stadium in July 2016 to perform “Johnny B. Goode” in full.
