Trump, who had visible blood on his head and ear, was taken to a local medical facility and is expected to be fine, according to his spokesman.
In another post, Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, shared a photo of Trump with his fist raised and an American flag in the background, as Secret Service members scrambled to protect him. Musk likened Trump to Theodore Roosevelt, who survived an assassination attempt during his 1912 presidential campaign.
The Butler County District Attorney confirmed that one rally spectator was killed and another seriously injured. The shooter was also confirmed dead by NBC News.
Although Musk had not previously endorsed Trump, he had expressed opposition to President Joe Biden’s re-election bid. In March, Musk stated he would not financially support either presidential candidate.
Musk had met with Trump earlier this year at Mar-a-Lago and mentioned during Tesla’s 2024 annual shareholder meeting that they have had conversations, noting that Trump occasionally calls him unexpectedly.
