Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani tied the knot with Radhika Merchant in presence of numerous celebrities.
After seven months of grand pre-wedding festivities, Anant Ambani, the son of India’s wealthiest man, tied the knot with pharmaceutical heiress Radhika Merchant in a spectacular ceremony on Friday, attended by thousands.
The event was graced by numerous celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra, and former British prime ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson, who all flew to Mumbai for the occasion. The guest list boasted prominent figures from Indian entertainment, sports, business, and politics, such as Bollywood icons Rajinikanth and Sanjay Dutt, former president Ram Nath Kovind, various state chief ministers, and celebrated cricket players.

The Ambani family, known for their vast fortune through Reliance Industries, spared no expense for the celebration. Founded by Anant’s grandfather and now led by his father Mukesh Ambani, whose net worth exceeds $122 billion, the company is India’s largest private enterprise.
In a rain-drenched Mumbai, police cordoned off roads near the 16,000-capacity Jio World Convention Center, owned by the Ambanis, for a grand red-carpet event. Guests arrived in style, showcasing bespoke sarees, lehengas, and kurtas, potentially setting new trends in Indian wedding fashion.
International attendees also embraced traditional attire, donning creations by renowned Indian designers. John Cena appeared in a sky blue sherwani, while Nick Jonas wore a sequined baby pink sherwani and matching trousers, accompanied by Priyanka Chopra in a yellow sari adorned with intricate embellishments.
Fashion luminaries made notable appearances as well. Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach arrived in a mauve velvet jacket and Schiaparelli gold-toed shoes, while designer Prabal Gurung sported a rose-colored sherwani and aviator sunglasses. The Kardashian sisters, who bypassed the red carpet, showcased their gold and red saris on social media, with Kim hinting at filming for their show, “The Kardashians.”
Inside the venue, transformed into a miniature Varanasi, celebrities like Chopra and Cena were seen dancing. Social media footage captured Ambani family members on stage with singer Daler Mehndi, while Afrobeats star Rema performed his hit “Calm Down.”

Anant Ambani, initially wearing a golden sherwani with sneakers, later changed for the ceremony. Radhika Merchant stunned in hand-embroidered couture by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, adhering to Gujarati tradition with a red and white ensemble featuring a 16-foot veil and an elaborate ghagra. She later switched to a red and gold outfit for the “vidai” ceremony, signifying her farewell to her family.
Nita Ambani, Anant’s mother, shared on social media her trip to Varanasi to seek blessings for the couple, emphasizing the wedding’s homage to India’s cultural heritage. Her own peach silk ghagra, designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, took over 40 days to create.
Despite the Ambanis’ secrecy, speculation about the guest list and event details was rampant. The wedding’s creative director, Manish Malhotra, designed custom outfits for the family during the month-long celebrations, which included a “sangeet” featuring Justin Bieber and a private “haldi” ceremony.
Anant Ambani, a Brown University graduate and Reliance director, and Radhika Merchant, daughter of pharmaceutical company founders, celebrated their union in an event estimated to cost hundreds of millions, with high-profile performers commanding substantial fees.
The celebrations are set to continue throughout the weekend at the Ambani residence, Antilia, with a divine blessings ceremony on Saturday and a final reception on Sunday. This marks the culmination of seven months of festivities, starting with an engagement party in January and including a Mediterranean cruise with performances by the Backstreet Boys and Pitbull.
Anant’s sister, Isha Ambani, also had a lavish wedding in 2018, attended by numerous celebrities and dignitaries, with a pre-wedding performance by Beyoncé.
