The suspect, Bionca Ellis, 32, has been taken into custody, according to a press release from the North Olmsted Police Department.

Police arrived shortly after 3 p.m., responding to multiple calls about the incident. Several officers apprehended Ellis while others tended to the victims and awaited the arrival of EMS.

In a written statement, North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones expressed sympathy and support for the mother and child, describing them as customers of the grocery store and “victims of what appears to be a random act of violence.”

This stabbing occurred outside the same Giant Eagle where, last summer, a 60-year-old Cleveland man fatally shot his 63-year-old ex-wife before turning the gun on himself.
