Eid-al-Adha, the festival of sacrifices, is celebrated because the Prophet Ibrahim agreed to sacrifice everything to please God. He was even ready to sacrifice his son Ismael. So, this festival remembers Prophet Ibrahim’s sacrifices and his love for Allah.
Eid-al-Adha is also known as Bakra-Eid or Bakrid because on this day muslims perform an act in which they sacrifice an animal which can be a goat, sheep, cow or camel. Then, the meat is distributed among family and friends.
