Sunny Deol unveiled the upcoming film “Border 2” on Thursday, June 13, sharing an announcement video on social media. This sequel to JP Dutta’s 1997 blockbuster “Border” marks 27 years since the original’s release on June 13, 1997.

In the announcement clip, Deol recalls, “Twenty-seven years ago, a soldier promised he would return. To fulfill that promise, to honor the soil of India, he is coming.”

The video proclaims “Border 2” as “India’s biggest war film,” set to the nostalgic tune of “Sandese Aate Hain” by Roopkumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam.

Anurag Singh, known for directing films such as “Dil Bole Hadippa!”, “Jatt & Juliet,” “Punjab 1984,” and “Kesari,” will helm “Border 2.” The cast details remain under wraps.

The original “Border,” a war drama set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, featured an ensemble cast with Sunny Deol, Suneil Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and Puneet Issar. Deol portrayed Major Kuldeep Singh, a resilient and determined Sardar leading his battalion.

Coinciding with the announcement, Jackie Shroff commemorated the 27th anniversary of “Border” by sharing a scene from the film in which he played Wing Commander Andy Bajwa.

Border 2” movie will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Krishan Kumar, and Nidhi Dutta.
