Noida’s woman, who ordered the ice cream through Zomato’s instant delivery app Blinkit, posted a picture on X on June 15 showing a centipede frozen inside the Amul ice cream tub.
Several days after a Noida woman’s complaint about finding a centipede in her ice cream went viral on social media, Amul has requested the return of the ice cream tub for further investigation. Amul, known for its high-quality dairy products in both Indian and international markets, addressed the incident on Monday.
The woman, who ordered the ice cream through Zomato’s instant delivery app Blinkit, posted a picture on X (formerly Twitter) on June 15 showing a centipede frozen inside the Amul ice cream tub. Deepa Devi’s post drew significant attention and led to an investigation by Noida’s food safety department.

Amul, which is marketed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), expressed regret over the incident. “We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to her because of this incident,” the company said.
Following the social media post, Amul stated it promptly responded and attempted to contact Deepa Devi. They were finally able to meet with her after 9:30 pm on the same day. During the meeting, Amul requested the ice cream tub for investigation, but the customer declined to provide it.
Amul emphasized the importance of retrieving the ice cream tub to properly investigate the matter and ensure the integrity of the product and supply chain. Without the ice cream tub, they explained, it is challenging to comment specifically on the issue.
The company assured the public of the stringent quality checks their ISO-certified plants undergo, inviting the customer to visit their facilities to observe their quality processes firsthand. Amul reiterated their commitment to safety, health, and nutrition for their customers.
