Lucknow Super Giants clinched a 28-run victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore, led by Mayank Yadav’s explosive fast bowling at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium showcased a riveting display of cricketing prowess, characterized by Mayank Yadav’s scintillating fast bowling and Quinton de Kock’s aggressive batting onslaught.

LSG’s innings commenced with de Kock’s assertive approach, as he swiftly took the attack to RCB’s bowlers, particularly targeting left-arm pacer Reece Topley. Despite an early top-edge, de Kock found his rhythm, peppering the boundaries with his trademark strokes. On the other end, KL Rahul adopted a cautious approach initially, gradually finding his stride with a well-timed six off Yash Dayal.
However, the pitch’s dual nature posed challenges for the batsmen, with the ball holding up at times. This two-paced nature hindered fluent strokeplay, allowing RCB’s bowlers to apply pressure during the middle overs. Glenn Maxwell, in particular, capitalized on the conditions, troubling the left-handed duo of de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal with his off-spin.
Yet, de Kock’s resilience and adaptability shone through as he weathered the storm, periodically unleashing boundaries to maintain LSG’s momentum. Despite his valiant efforts, LSG struggled to find substantial partnerships, with Padikkal and Marcus Stoinis failing to capitalize on their starts.
Nicholas Pooran, however, emerged as the catalyst for LSG’s late surge, showcasing his power-hitting prowess with a flurry of sixes. Pooran’s assault, coupled with some tactical brilliance from Yash Dayal, propelled LSG to a competitive total of 181, albeit one that seemed within RCB’s reach at the halfway mark.

In response, RCB’s chase got off to a steady start, with Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis rotating the strike effectively against the spin duo of M Siddharth and Krunal Pandya. However, Mayank Yadav’s fiery spell of fast bowling turned the tide in LSG’s favor. Yadav’s express pace and impeccable line and length rattled RCB’s top order, dismissing both openers and derailing their chase.
Despite a brief resurgence led by Mahipal Lomror’s aggressive cameo, RCB struggled to maintain momentum against LSG’s disciplined bowling attack. The relentless pressure exerted by LSG’s bowlers, combined with some exceptional fielding efforts, notably by Devdutt Padikkal and Nicholas Pooran, ultimately proved too much for RCB to overcome.
As the match reached its climax, LSG’s victory seemed inevitable, with RCB falling short by 28 runs. Mayank Yadav‘s spellbinding performance, complemented by de Kock’s explosive batting and Pooran’s late onslaught, underscored LSG’s dominance on the day, reaffirming their credentials as formidable contenders in the tournament.
