Jitesh Sharma, the wicket-keeping batter, has been appointed as the vice-captain for Punjab Kings in the upcoming 2024 Indian Premier League season. PBKS will kick off their IPL 2024 campaign against Delhi Capitals at the newly-constructed Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Stadium in Mohali on Saturday, March 23.

The announcement of Jitesh’s vice-captaincy was made during the captain’s photoshoot ahead of the IPL 2024 opener on March 22, where he stood in for skipper Shikhar Dhawan.
Jitesh has been a standout performer for Punjab Kings in recent IPL seasons, amassing 543 runs at a striking rate of 159.24 in the last two seasons. Last season alone, he scored 309 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 156.06. His contributions with both bat and gloves have earned him a spot in the Indian T20I setup.
Since making his debut for India in October 2023, Jitesh has scored 100 runs at a strike rate of 147.05 and has been involved in three catches and a stumping in nine matches.
The IPL 2024 season holds significance for Jitesh Sharma as he aims to solidify his position in India’s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, scheduled to commence in June.
Punjab Kings made several additions to their squad during the IPL 2024 mini-auction in Dubai, including Harshal Patel, Chris Woakes, and others.
In the previous season, PBKS finished eighth in the league table, winning six out of 14 matches and missing out on the playoffs by four points.
