This year, Good Friday falls on March 29, 2024. It is observed just after Maundy Thursday and two days before Easter Sunday, the day when Jesus Christ ressurected from death.

Jesus Christ was betrayed by Judas which led to his arrest. He was beaten by the Roman soldiers after being nailed to a cross which he was asked to carry to his site of the crucifixion. His crucifixion took place in Calvary around AD 30 or AD 33.

Good Friday is a day of grief, penance and fasting for Christians all over the world as Jesus Christ was crucified on this day. This day reminds everyone about Jesus Christ’s sacrifices.
This day also marks the end of Lent — a 40-day fasting period of Christians which begins from Ash Wednesday. On this day, people observe fast and offer prayers to Lord.

People don’t eat meat on this day. However, they do eat fish instead of meat. Church services take place from noon to 3 pm as this time is considered to be the last time of Jesus Christ. Priests and followers wear black clothes.
Good friday is a public holiday in many countries such as Canada, India, UK, Germany, Singapore, Bermuda, Sweden, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Finland and New Zealand among others. In many countries processions are held in which hymns are sung and prayers are offered.
