Kakar labeled the entire event a ‘shameful act’ and criticized it as an ‘insult and exploitation of women in Pakistan.’ In response, Erica Robin expressed confusion over the backlash, stating, “It feels great to represent Pakistan, but I don’t understand where the backlash is coming from.” She speculated that concerns about appearing in a swimsuit before men might be a contributing factor.
Acknowledging her historic role as the first Pakistani contestant in the Miss Universe pageant, the 24-year-old model, who holds a degree in Business Administration, emphasized the responsibility she bears.
